Garden Club

Begins Wednesday, September 11, 2019

  • What: We'll be digging the beds (weeding, turning soil). Planting seedlings inside for students to take home and to plant in our garden. Planting directly into our garden beds.

  • When: Wednesdays, right after school  until 4:55 pm.

  • Where: Meet in the lunch room.  If the weather is good, we'll head out to the garden.  If the weather is bad, we'll go to either Mr. Gannon's or Ms. Wallace's room. 

  • What to bring: clothes that can get dirty. Sunglasses, water, sunscreen. A jacket or sweatshirt for cool, windy days. 

  • Cost: free

  • Registration: Garden Club is open to all EHMS students on a drop-in basis.  Register as part of our Drop-In Program registration

Chess Club

Begins Tuesday, September 10, 2019

  • What: Come learn how to play chess! 

    • A typical chess-club session will consist of 10 min snack/set-up, 20-30 minute lesson and/or tactics; 20-30 m practice day’s lesson.

    • Topics include notation, black/white openings, end game, classic games, tournament play
      etc. Students will have time to play for enjoyment during this session and I can split the
      group according to ability and needs.

    • Students will be encouraged to compete in local/state chess tournaments, it is not required. Most tournaments, including the Junior High Utah State Championship, are on Saturdays throughout the SLC valley.  

  • When ​Tuesdays, right after school until 4:55

    • Make checks out to "EHMS PTO" and turn in to the EHMS office within three days of attending the first class.

Technology Student Association (TSA)

Club Begins Thursday, September 19, 2019

What: In the Technology Student Association (TSA) we focus on enhancing personal development, leadership and career opportunities in STEM.  Students in TSA attend field trips and after-school meetings that consist of fun educational activities, state competitions, and guest speakers.   View this years introduction letter. More information on TSA can be found on their website or at MakerSpace.

Dance Club

Begins Monday, September 23, 2019

  • What: Dance club is an opportunity for students with little to no dance experience to move and groove with friends and peers. Dance styles include hip hop, ballet, contemporary and modern. Class begins with warm-up and technique exercises and concludes with choreography. Performance opportunities available!

  • When: Mondays, right after school until 4:55.

  • Where: Meet in the lunch room,  moves to either the desert (open space near auditorium entrance) or hallway near P.E. teachers' classrooms.

  • Cost: None

  • Registration: Dance club is offered to all EHMS students on a drop-in basis. NOTE that performance opportunities only will be given to students in regular attendance. Register as part of our Drop-In Program registration

Student Newspaper

Begins Tuesday, September 24

  • What: Every reporter will get a By Line/ story photo. The first 26 parents to email Michele Roepke grab a limited spot on this exciting team. No experience necessary. 6th and 7th graders welcome. We will take the fun, eight weeks to learn what it takes to publish one, cool newspaper. A copy of the finished newspaper will be distributed to every Ecker Hill student, prior to Thanksgiving break allowing you all to bring them with you around the country for Thanksgiving travel thus - national distribution.

¡HABLEMOS! Spanish After Hours

¿Do You Speak Spanish? ¿Do you think that Spanish is an awesome language?

If you said yes to any of these questions, you would enjoy ¡HABLEMOS SPANISH AFTER HOURS!


  • What: Requirements to become and maintain status as an active member in Spanish Club:Get an application from ¡Hablemos! Leaders, outside of room 209 or the after school bulletin board and return it to Sra. Muñoz by October 2nd. Meeting Days will be Wednesdays except Holiday Party.  We can only take 25/30 students per activity.  To be able to come you must have this application turned in and sign up for the activities you want to attend by Monday each week. (You will receive an invite every Monday)
